Who wants dessert?
Who knows a child who would have fun making their own quick dessert or snack?
Who knows a mom who would like that to be a mess-free and {reasonably} healthy endeavor?
Have I got a recipe for you!
This is very easy and can be tailored to every taste. I got the recipe idea here. It's so simple, well, a child could make it.
Mix completely together a dry angel food cake mix and the dry cake mix flavor of your choice. (I chose sugar free devil's food because I'm not supposed to have sugar, but I love angel food cake and couldn't find a sugar free mix for that. Oh well.)
Store the dry powdered mixture in an airtight container.
When you want to make an individual cake all you have to do is stir together:
3 Tbsp. cake mix
2 Tbsp. water
in a microwave proof container.
I used a mug.
Microcook on high for one minute.
You can eat it out of the mug if you want, but part of my enjoyment of food is dressing it up a little.
If you want, add whipped cream,
or fruit.
Just be sure and sit down to enjoy it with someone and connect while cooking and eating.

Thanks for finding me. I have to admit, it was a fun one to photograph--had to do it twice. Rats! :-)
DeleteAh..how neat and quick! Thanks for sharing this on the Friendship Friday Hop.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to trying it with my grand daughter--when she's a little bigger. She's 2 now. I bet she could do it!
DeleteI have been doing this for a long time.We call it 3-2-1 cake. 3 tbs cake mix, 2 tbs water and in micro 1 minute. I keep the mixture in a zip lock bag and it is ready whenever I want or need a desert. Gotta love the microwave and slow cooker.
ReplyDeleteThat's what they called it where I found it on Pinterest, too. Ziploc baggie is a good idea!
DeleteThis is just a lovely idea! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Carol.
DeleteI am going to do this! I have made breakfast muffins in a cup before when I was doing low carb...with an egg and flax meal, etc. This is awesome since it is dessert! I am imagining putting a little of the Jif Whips chocolate/peanut butter flavor on top. Have you tried that stuff?? Delish! I can't wait to try it :)
ReplyDeleteMuffin in a cup sounds intriguing, too! I've never tried the Jif Whips. I love chocolate and peanut butter, though!
DeleteOh man, this could be dangerous! But I love how quickly this comes together and that it has built in portion control. I would love to play around with different flavors, especially with fall coming on. Spice cake/angel food for one? Yes, please!

Amy, portion control as long as you don't eat the powdered mix while you are waiting for the microwave! (I, of course, would never do that!!) :-)
DeleteLooks yummy and it's super easy!
ReplyDeleteThis is not a good recipe for me to learn! It looks WAY too tasty and easy to make :) Thanks for sharing! "Cake in a Cup" will definitely come in handy for sweet-tooth emergencies.
ReplyDeleteI found your recipe on the "Teach Me Tuesdays" link-up!
This is such a good idea!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteEmpty plates indeed. Rey and I just made all her birthday cupcakes together. She loves cooking and baking in the kitchen with me. This is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking to Raising Imperfection.
